remember when i had a baby six weeks ago?

i've been feeling more, and more overwhelmed because as time ticks by i get further and further behind on my blog posts. i decided i'd finally post about the birth of our little niya. its been so amazing, and wonderful, and hard, and emotional, and scary all at the same time. i can't believe how beautiful she is, and how much i just love her. i really didn't expect to bond with her so quickly. i don't know why but i just thought she would feel like a little stranger. she doesn't! its been a rough six weeks for me as my body basically wigged out after she was born but she's just perfect!
here i am 40 weeks prego. this was taken the night we went into the hospital. i went to the doctor the day before my due date monday the 26th. he decided he wanted to induce me that night. i reported to labor and delivery at 10pm where they started the what was unknown to me to be my very long labor!

here i think i'd been in labor a good 20 hours at least. and i look freakin beat! people say having a baby is hard but come on! seriously i didn't really think it was going to be that hard! the whole time i was on the verge of a c section. looking back now im so glad i didn't have one but at the time i just wanted the baby out! it was really painful even with an epidural, it kept wearing off! and it was a lot of hard work! not to mention nerve racking, but i did it!

she was finally born 28 and a half hours later. 7lbs 10ounces and 20 inches long. she was perfect. i love this picture of drew and aunt lori looking at the baby as she was getting cleaned up. his face is priceless. he was so emotional and excited

here she is looking like a scary little alien ghost baby. they look so weird when they first come out!

when i got to hold her for the first time it was amazing. i couldn't believe i could finally look at her little face and hold her. not to mention how glad i was that the labor was finally over!!!

when she got all cleaned up and bathed she looked so pretty :)

i was so glad my mom could be there for the whole thing.
drew is so protective of her. its really sweet. he was actually more paranoid than i was about her in the hospital. he kept checking to see if she was breathing and asking the nurse "is this normal" about every little thing

my pretty little baby girl

time to go home! she slept through the whole thing. she didn't seem to think it was as eventful as us.

  5. This was so cool. It's nice to get the whole story with pictures that really capture the moments and what it was like for you. I agree the one of Drew and Lori is so cute. They are all really great. And Niya just keeps getting cuter and cuter. Love you.

  6. So cute! Isn't it SO freaking weird how your body can do all that then go back normal again!? But so worth it. She's super cute and I'm glad you're having so much fun with her!
